Custom Built Wood and Composite Railings in Northern Virginia

We also build custom backyard railings, paying close attention to the small details that not all others do, including:

  • Placing railing posts so they don’t obstruct the view or a walkway
  • Making sure the railing height is appropriate for the use of the area
  • Properly spacing every spindle so they are even and symmetrical
  • Securing stationary post and substructure installation so it remains sturdy and functional for years to come

Deck Maintenance in Northern Virginia

Deck maintenance is the most important part of keeping your deck in great condition and looking beautiful for years to come. We handle every step of the process so you don’t have to worry about anything except enjoying your deck for as long as possible.

Our four step maintenance package includes:

Inspect and Prepare the Deck

As part of your deck maintenance, we inspect your deck every year or two, checking for any loose boards or protruding nails that need repair.

Clean the Deck

We thoroughly clean the deck of all dirt and build-up, using a power washer to clean debris clogged in the spaces between deck boards.

Paint or Stain the Deck

Though some people choose to paint their decks with deck paint, most take advantage of the natural beauty of expensive decking woods by using a clear or lightly stained finish for their deck.

Seal the Deck

Once the area is dry, the deck must be sealed. The level of protection needed depends in part on how you want the sealant applied, whether it’s brushed on, rolled on with a paint roller, or sprayed on. Spraying is the fastest by far, but this is also the hardest to control. And, some sealants have color that will stain surfaces to which they are applied.

Keeping Your Deck Looking its Best with our Staining Services

Your deck is a major part of your home. It’s where you spend warm summer evenings relaxing with your family and weekends sharing a barbeque with your friends and neighbors. You want the material of your deck to last as long as possible and to weather summer storms as well as winter elements. The best way to protect your deck is to have it stained on a regular basis.

Staining your deck not only highlights the wood grain and improves its overall appearance, but it will also increase its lifespan by preventing rot and insect infestation. Deck staining will also prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, which can freeze causing costly damage. When it comes to choosing deck stain colors, there are plenty of options, from natural-looking clear wood stains to bold solid colors. While you’re looking for one to suit your project, you should consider that a clear stain will bring out the wood grain, while a solid color will reveal very little of the woods natural color. Many homeowners leave their pressure-treated wood as is because they think that you cannot apply stain to treatment. This is not the case. There are many different shades of stain that can complement the look of treated wood.
